Harmony Blue Granite Co., Inc. and Century Granite Co., Inc. have agreed to a joint venture, whereby Harmony will focus its efforts on expansion of quarrying, and Century will assume responsibility for manufacturing, wholesale, and delivery of memorials. This re-direction of efforts should maximize use of the greatest strengths of both companies. Allan McGarity emphasizes that Harmony''s tradition of quality to detail will be continued as Century operates the manufacturing plant. George Tyler, president of Century, promises that every possible effort will be made during the transition to make it as smooth as possible for the Harmony customers. Century''s ability to deliver to most customers on its own crane-equipped trucks will be an immediate benefit, but delivery will continue to be the customer''s decisions. Century gives next-day service on drawings for approval and two-to-four week delivery on most orders. Century personnel are committed to personal visits to customers at least four times a year, to listen to the customer''s needs. Due to growing sales of Elberton Blue granite, there is a growing shortage of quarried blocks. Harmony owns vast deposits of high-grade monumental granite. It has the experience and the assets to develop quarries for this granite, which will assure customers of an uninterrupted supply of memorials and mausoleums of the highest quality.
