George Kurjanowicz is a native of Poland, having lived most of his adult life in the United States. He came to Barre in 1984 with his wife Grazyna, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland. After apprenticing for two and a half years with Frank Gaylord, a local Barre sculptor, George started his own Studio in 1987. Kurjanowicz Sculpture Studio is located in Websterville, Vermont at 58 Pitman Rd. While the great majority of the work done at Kurjanowicz Studio is for the manufacturers of the Barre granite industry, private commissions are also welcome. The Studio accepts all sculptural projects for both design and execution. These projects need not be confined to monuments. Fine arts and architectural projects are also accepted. While granite continues to be the main material for Kurjanowicz Studio, all stones from marble to limestone and slate have been used in past projects.
