Petma was first established in 1987 under the name Petma Mining Production Company. The same year, the license to produce barite mine in Giresun, Turkey was attained and a plant was constructed. The quarry operated successfully for 20 years and upon ceasure of the mine, the company was liquidated. In 2010, with the overtaking of a marble and natural stone production field, the company was re-establihed with a new title, Petma Marble, Natural Stone and Mining Industry Trade Limited Co.
       Petma is a subsidiary of Pet Holding, functioning in marble and natural stone mining. The parent company Pet Holding was established in 1974 by Prof. Dr. Güntekin Köksal. Pet Holding also has subsidiaries in such fields as petroleum exploration and production (Petoil), construction (Petkontur), project and land development (Ottoman Life) and tourism (Petya). Pet Holding grants scholarships to successful students of our country through Köksal Education Foundation (KEV). Pet Holding, with its traditions that go back many years, continues to support cultural, artistic and sports activities in many regions of Turkey and the countries it operates in.
