Travertine Bros. (TB) is still a young company which was established in the year of 2000 in Istanbul, originally aiming to service Mureks International Trade which was founded in 1994 as a ceramic and stone tile importing and trading company in USA (Tampa, Florida). Initially, operations started by using logistic warehousing services and renting an office space in Tarko Logistics for a year. Later, total of 85, 000 SQFT of all steel office and warehouse buildings were completed on mid 2001 on a land strategically close to Kumport, one of the two main ports of Istanbul; at the time TB was organizing and inspecting the stone tile buys mainly for Mureks'' orders. Tiles being purchased from a series of different suppliers were trying to be suited into orders of handful USA customers. The control issue over the products and the shipments was the main obstacle for smooth operation of the Mureks'' business. A decision was made in 2001 once TB purchased a tile beveling line for an important project of its own; TB would become a manufacturer and a factory building was needed for the tile lines. 70, 000 SQFT two storey steel building completed in 2002 and the first tile line was installed immediately the following year. Uncommonly, the tile line was processing in starting from strips that were cut and sent from Denizli, Travertine Works, a 50% partner company with mainly 3 block-cutters and a travertine quarry, as well as raw and finished products sent from other producers. A wood processing line equipped complete for TB''s own crate production, a line for tumbled the stone production and a separate mosaic production line were added in 2003 and a revolutionary fully automatic tile line started operating in 2004. TB acquired its Classic Travertine and Vanilla quarries the same year and added 2 sets of earth moving equipments to quarry its own blocks.
