An Egyptian ministerial meeting held Wednesday demanded the U.S. government to show a clear-cut stance against a filmmaker whose movie they say insults the Muslim Prophet.

The Egyptian government denounced the movie, produced by a Jewish businessman in the United States, as offensive to Prophet Mohammed and immoral.

The Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has assigned the Egyptian embassy in Washington to take necessary legal procedures against the filmmaker.

"The presidency denounced the attempts to insult the Prophet and those who produced such radical movies," official news agency MENA quoted presidency spokesman Yasser Ali as saying.

The presidency asserted Egypt is responsible for protecting public and private properties as well as the headquarters of the diplomatic missions on its land, Ali said.

The president gave instructions to the Egyptian embassy in the United States to take legal measures against those seeking to vandalize bilateral relations and dialogues among the peoples of the United States and the Arab countries, he added.

"Egypt respects the right of expression and peaceful protests in light of laws, but it will strictly stand against any irresponsible bids out of law," the spokesman said.

The Muslim Brotherhood expressed discontent and condemned the insult to the Prophet. In a statement, it described the movie as " a racist crime" and demanded criminalizing the production company of the movie and referring people who are responsible to an urgent trial.

"The film is an attempt to provoke sectarian strife between the Muslims and Christians," added the statement.

It said "Muslims around the world feel terrible due to the insult to their Prophet," adding that ignorance and blind fanaticism are behind such immoral acts.

If there is no limit for these insults, hatred of Muslims for the West and the United States in particular will be stirred and the interests of such countries will be influenced negatively in the Islamic world," it added.

The brotherhood called for peaceful protests on Friday around the main mosques in all Egypt's provinces to denounce the offence to Islam and to the Prophet, urging all national forces to join the protests, the statement added.

Security forces have arrested four people after breaching the wall of the U.S. embassy Tuesday, MENA reported.

Egypt's Shoura Council, the upper house of the parliament, strongly denounced the movie and asked the United Nations human rights council to take actions in regards to the "blasphemy."

A statement of Azhar Scientists Association asserted the necessity to exercise restraint when expressing anger, urging people in Islamic nations not to turn their anger into chaos.

The movie, "Innocence of Muslims," infuriated the Muslim communities worldwide and in particular sparked protests and assaults against the U.S. diplomatic missions in Egypt, Libya, Sudan and Tunis.

On Tuesday, some armed Libyans stormed the U.S. consulate in Libya's eastern city of Benghazi and set ablaze the consulate building, leading to the death of U.S. ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other staffers.

Also on Tuesday, several thousands of Egyptians protested in front of the U.S. embassy in Cairo. Some protesters pulled down the American flag, expressing their anger over the movie.
