Xiamen Lingling International Circus City began construction in Jimei district on Oct 20. It is the first circus in Xiamen and will become the largest in the world. Lin Guoyao, deputy-mayor and member of the standing committee of the CPC city committee, and He Qingqiu, deputy-director of the standing committee of the municipal people's congress, attended the foundation ceremony.
Priority has been given to the night market to offer leisure time and facilities to tourists. The circus, including an ancillary five-star hotel, a culture plaza and an animal specimen museum, is set to open on Sept 8, 2013.

As a leading project in Xiamen, the circus has an investment of 114.9 million yuan ($18.23 million) from Jiangsu Yancheng Safari Park. It will hold nearly 10,000 spectators with world-class performances such as juggling shows, aquacade, architectural lighting, trapeze artists and acrobats. More than 600 animals of 50 precious species across the world will stage magic shows at the inauguration ceremony.
