53 people have been rescued while five miners remain trapped in a coal mine after two tunnel collapses in southwest China’s Guizhou province. The disaster occurred Wendesday at Anlilai Coal Mine in Pu’an county.

After the first collapse left five miners trapped, the other 53 miners were sent underground to dig a tunnel to rescue them. A second collapse Thursday left these fifty-three miners trapped as well. Rescue workers have now managed to evacuate the second group, but the original five miners are still trapped.
