CUMI Canada Inc. (CCI) is a subsidiary of CUMI India, a member of the Murugappa group of companies. The Murugappa Group is one of the largest family-promoted, professionally
managed conglomerates in India with interests in; engineering, abrasives, sanitaryware, fertilizers, finance, bio-products and plantations. It has 29 companies under its umbrella.
       CUMI was founded in 1954 as a tripartite collaboration between the Murugappa Group, The Carborundum Co., USA and the Universal Grinding Wheel Co. Ltd., U.K. With state-of-the art facilities and strategic alliances with global partners, CUMI has achieved a reputation for quality and innovation. CUMI is one of the five manufacturers in the world with fully integrated operations that include mining, fusioning, wind and hydro power stations, manufacturing, marketing and distribution. Almost all of CUMI's ten manufacturing facilities have received the ISO 9001:2000 accreditation for quality standards.
       CUMI products have been marketed in North America since the late 90’s and have come to prominence in the hardwood floor refinishing market. CCi will look to build on this success and begin marketing some of the 20,000 products manufactured by CUMI.
