Following the successful sale of his office machine business in 1987, John Landrum (Lanny) Kenimer became fascinated with the multi-colored, multi-textured crystalline rock called granite. Investing the proceeds from the sale of his business, Mr. Kenimer began brokering granite memorials and quarry blocks.
       Tecstone's role was to match customers in need with quality vendors, then arrange for the shipment of goods to pass directly between them. In 1994, the company's business model shifted from brokering to wholesaling.
      Expansion quickly followed, including the addition of a modern office/warehouse. Line expansion included the purchase of cutting and polishing equipment to provide quick-response granite repair services to the trade.
