MINEX 2013 will be organized by IZFAS for the fifth time in "Izmir International Fair Center", which is prestigious project of Turkish Trade Fair Industry and the unique UFI approved fair ground with its 23,750 sqm ultramodern indoor area.

MINING SECTOR OF TURKEY
Turkey is one of the few countries that possess a vast and diverse mineral resource base. Excluding resources of oil and coal, there are about 4,400 mineral deposits.
Turkey has a quite complex geological structure since it lays down on one of the most important orogenic belts in the world (Alpine-Himalayan Orogenic Belt). This complex geological structure of the country provides it with a favorable environment to host diverse kinds of minerals, and at the same time, constraints the size of the mineral reserves. With some notable exceptions, the mining industry is characterized by a relatively large number of small deposits rather than a few large ones, due to such diversity of resources. Resources of metallic ores, which are minable by large scale methods, include bauxite, chromites, copper and copper-zinc, gold, iron ore and silver. Chromite deposits are considered important worldwide because of their high grade. In industrial minerals, most significant resources are barite, boron, limestone, marble, magnesite, pumice, strontium and soda ash. Boron deposits are the largest known deposits in the world, and Turkey is the second largest producer and exporter of boron minerals and compounds in the world.
