Under the situation of weak global foreign trade in 2012, Xiamen Haicang Port was strong trend against weak situation. Haicang Port imported 10927 batches of stone and accounted for 3601.7 thousand ton in total, respectively increased 14.89% and 24.67% year-on-year, ranked as the top in all ports’ stone import in the whole country, and to be the highlight in Xiamen Port foreign trade businesses.

Manager Yang, who is engaged in logistic at Haicang Port for a long time, told that although influenced by the global weak economy, the Mainland devoted great effort on infrastructure construction, which increased the need of stone materials, besides, the price of raw stone materials abroad kept stable and the freight situation was depressed, the possibility of importers hoarding source of goods cannot be ruled out.

According to the introduction, the imported stone at Haicang Port mainly are marble which is for high-grade decorating. It was imported 2871.1 thousand ton in 2012, shares 80% of proportion in the total import quantity. The origin countries of imported stone show a trend of diversification, mainly including Finland, Norway, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, USA, Canada, Portugal, Egypt, Turkey, India, etc. Meanwhile, the stone kinds also became diversified, from single imported block to increasing semi-finished stones. Among them, imported artificial marble was 18.7 thousand ton, increasing 7.8 times year-on-year.
