E.A. Fiera del Levante was set up in 1929, on the initiative of the Municipality of Bari, the Provincial Administration and the Chamber of Commerce of Bari, and has been working since then. Fiera del Levante gives its name to the International Trade Show that takes place every year in September. Since its first edition in 1930, it has continued to be held every year except during the Second World War, from 1940 to 1946. Fairgrounds extend over 280 thousand square meters and host about thirty events (including international fair shows) throughout the year as well as conferences and/or exhibitions.

The vast majority of events are organized by third parties whereas some of them are organized directly by the trade fair organization, which works closely and under the aegis of trade associations and other organisms operating for specific fairs. 

In total, about 2,000 Italian and foreign exhibitors take part every year in our events. The total number of visitors is about 500,000. The largest event remains the multi-sector trade fair held in September, which attracts about 800 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors.

The trade fair income is of about ten million Euros, to which one must add the turnover promoted by various events for exhibitors.

Fiera del Levante mainly operates in the Centre and South of Italy, but also in the South-East of Europe and in the Mediterranean area.

Borsa degli Affari, the department which promotes contacts between foreign exhibitors and operators, assisting them during their negotiations, works mainly in the agro-food, building, machine tools and consumer durables industry (especially IT and furnishing).

Moreover, Fiera del Levante has been active in the congress industry for many years. Thanks to its twelve conference rooms of different size and accommodation, it regularly hosts more than 120 conferences every year (from small meetings for some tens of people to congresses for up to 1,000 attendees).

As of 2011, this activity can rely on a new huge structure that can accommodate up to 6,400 people (plenary sessions). In 2012, an additional building with 11 medium-large sized conference rooms, equipped the most advanced technologies and an elegant roof garden for exclusive business meetings, will be finalized.

Finally, in 2011, Fiera del Levante started to move towards a new direction:  it will house permanent activities; depending on the needs, a series of halls located on the “monumental side” of the fair district will be available to all those willing to establish a permanent business/entrepreneurial venture at competitive renting prices. This will ensure that the district will be opened 365 days a year and will give to key institutional players the opportunity to build fruitful relationships in their three action fields, i.e.  fairs, conferences and congresses and permanent business activities.

Bari as a bridge between Western and Eastern Europe: this is the message that Fiera del Levante is launching with its wide range of events destined to the world public, thus confirming its strategic economic role thanks to its geographical location and its ancient traditions which renovate and specialize over the years.
