Surpasses USA, China Became the Largest Importer of Turkish Marble

Daily News April 3rd – Cetinkaya, the mainly Turkish marble supplier Temmer’s CEO, said that China has surpassed USA to be the largest importer of Turkish marble. 80% of Temmer’s marble export is to China, and 40% of Turkish marble export is to China. Since the global economic crisis started from the year of 2008, USA gradually conceded its status as the largest importer of Turkish marble to China. At present, most of Turkish quarries manufacture and supply to China market at top speed. It is known that Turkey has explored about 100 kinds of marbles, the reserve is 5 billion m³, and the weight is 14 billion tons, which covers 40% in the world, and the quantity of categories ranks the first place in the world. There are about 2200 marble mines and 1600 quarries in Turkey. In 2012, its industry value of output is 5 billion USD, and its exported value reached 2 billion USD. At the beginning of this year, a marble mine with 0.9 billion tons of reserve was found in Bursa, Turkey. Its total value is expected to more than 105 billion USD.
