The main components reach up to 10 cm in size, at times with elongated and irregular potash-feldspar. Small crystals of light-grey, transparent quartz and elongated granules of biotite can be found amongst the former. Biotite can also be found in the form of small chips surrounded by feldspar. The large granules of biotite have a striking deep brown colour which becomes paler towards the outside. This appearance is typical of tropical granite and it arises from the iron contained in the biotite which, through weathering over the course of millions of years, was transformed into brown-coloured limonite. It contains traces of red garnet crystals which measure up to 1.5 cm in size. It is quarried in Nova Venecia in the state of Espirito Santo.
