(September 2013) Horizontal stripes along the tiled surface of a wall can set a special accent in bathrooms. In our example, the pattern is composed of a myriad of tiny pieces and therefore belongs to the family of mosaics. The pattern is pre-set and glued to mats for easy handling and mounting.

We are talking about products by an Italian family-run company by the name of Pietre di Rapolano, where Tuscan Travertine is the material of choice. Its wide gamut of colors ranges from pure white to yellow and all the way to a rich brown with jet-black veins.

As usual with natural stone products, each and every element and thus the mosaic as a whole is unique. No two pieces look alike although they blend and adapt to one another.
The surface of the stone is ground and the pores are sealed with a special colored filling, making it suitable for mounting outdoors as it resists below freezing temperatures despite precipitation.
