Bangalore, “The Silicon Valley”, “The Cosmopolitan City”, also known as Bengaluru, is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Located on the Deccan Plateau in the southeastern part of Karnataka, Bangalore is India's third most populous city and fifth-most populous urban agglomeration. Bangalore is called the Mecca of Granite Industry because of the presence of the major Granite Industries in and around Bangalore.
Karnataka is endowed with rich varieties of granite resources. Approximately one hundred varieties of rocks are available in Karnataka. Granites with pleasing textures and colours apart from attractive gneisses, migmatites, sober dyke rocks are abundantly available. The peninsular gneisses, closepet granites and younger granite intrusions are main sources of ornamental stones in Karnataka. The pink migmatic granite and grey granite of peninsular origin are attractive and widely used. Pink propheries and pink granites of closepet groups add to the varieties of granite with their enchanting look.
All these make the city an ideal venue for the 11th International Granite & Stone Fair which will be held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), NH-4, Tumkur Road, Bangalore from 12th to 15th February, 2014.
